David Battey, President and Founder
As President and Founder of YVC, David oversees programming and is a nationally recognized leader in the community service and youth development fields. As a political economy major at Williams College, he developed the initial YVC concept as part of his senior thesis. Using the thesis as a guide, he established the YVC of Greater Kansas City, sponsored by the local United Way. After operating the program for two years, David was hired by Youth Service America to begin national replication of the YVC model with seed funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which helped him eventually launch YVC as an independent nonprofit. In his free time, David enjoys traveling. He has visited more than 100 countries, but his favorite places are those off the beaten path such as Barrow, Alaska; Afghanistan; Cuba; North Korea; and rural Kansas. Tracy Hale, Chief Executive Officer
As CEO, Tracy works closely with David, the Board of Directors and staff to support the mission and vision of YVC. She supervises the YVC staff and their responsibilities, including Affiliate relations and support, financial activities, grants, marketing and public relations. She is responsible for evaluating services and activities provided by YVC in relation to goals and objectives. Tracy is passionate about the mission of YVC and has a strong desire to assist our YVC Affiliates to ensure sustained programs and growth. Before joining the YVC team, Tracy served seven years as Vice President for Miller Management, which serves over 400 nonprofit organizations. For 11 years prior to that she held various management positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Tracy holds a B.S. in International Business from Northwest Missouri State University. Chelan David, Director of Development
As Director of Development, Chelan is responsible for ensuring sustained funding of the national organization by developing and implementing the YVC Headquarters fundraising strategy. Chelan volunteers frequently and is passionate about inspiring youth to undertake a lifetime commitment to service. Prior to joining YVC, Chelan worked at Unvision, the global Spanish-language television network. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Journalism. A huge sports fan, Chelan is an avid supporter of the Jayhawks and Royals. He enjoys jogging, traveling, reading, attending concerts and spending time with his two daughters.
Leah Boal, AmeriCorps and Affiliate Services Coordinator
Leah works to support and strengthen YVC Affiliates across the Network through training, resource development, and ongoing personalized support. She loves how YVC impacts youth and communities and is thrilled to take part in that as well. Leah is a graduate of Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College with a BS in Music Education and Bible. Throughout her life, Leah has been involved in many service opportunities locally and internationally which has fueled her passion. Amanda Moser, Community Impact Leader
As Community Impact Leader, Amanda supports strength and sustainability in YVC Affiliates through fundraising assistance, community engagement, and program support. She also helps grow the YVC Network through developing new Affiliate sites, helping bring the YVC mission and model to more communities in the U.S. and Canada. Amanda is from Kirksville, Missouri and holds a degree in Creative Writing from Missouri State University. Kellen Jenkins, Marketing and Communications Director
Kellen joined Youth Volunteer Corps as its Director of Marketing and Communications in 2017. He values YVC's mission to inspire youth for a lifetime commitment to service and strives to meet that goal by promoting YVC's members, projects and events. His professional career as a multimedia journalist has trained him to seek out meaningful, impactful stories and he now brings that passion for storytelling to YVC to spread their message nationwide. Outside of volunteering, Kellen has a passion for wildlife conservation and sustainable food networks. He travels as often as he can and hopes to set foot on each continent of the world. Sagan Hundley, Office Manager and Project Coordinator
Sagan joined Youth Volunteer Corps as Office Manager and Project Coordinator in 2017. Sagan holds a degree in Mass Communications from Kansas State University. Throughout her time in college, she participated in local and international serving opportunities that helped her better understand her passions and strengths. She is excited to gain experience in the nonprofit sector and play a part in the mission that YVC holds. She plans to use her passion for writing, service and relationship building to support YVC in many different tasks and functions. Hannah Litwiller is excited to join the YVC team as an AmeriCorps VISTA Expansion Coordinator. She will build the capacity of YVC this year by creating new HQ-hosted YVC programs in Kansas and Missouri. Hannah is from Boonville, Missouri, and graduated from Truman State University with a degree in Public Communication. Outside of work, she likes to garden, cook and rewatch F.R. I.E.N.D.S
“As one of the two Americorps VISTAS through YVC, Cori holds a position as an Expansion Coordinator. She is tasked with building capacity by developing and establishing YVC HQ- hosted programs for youth, that will sustain long after the position expires. She is passionate about the being an active member within the community, and giving back. Cori graduated from Clark Atlanta University, in Atlanta, Georgia with a major in political science. She is also in the process of earning her Juris Doctor with hopes to become a criminal defense attorney. She enjoys binge watching Crime shows and documentaries, reading, volleyball and traveling to new places.
